Extraction of iron to steel The Earth is mined to obtain the rocks that containing iron ore. Then the iron ore was transferred to factory to be extracted. In order to get the iron, we have to extract them from the iron ore. Heamatite (Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe3O4) are two common iron ores that usually used. In this assignment, we will use the equation of heamatite. The hot air that goes inside the furnace from the bottom is heated up by the heat that escape from the top. This process is to ensure that heat are not wasted because heat is a essential in this process. The coke, (fuel with few impurities and highly carbon content, usually made of coal –Wikipedia) which burns in the blast of hot air gives out carbon dioxide under an extreme exothermic reaction, is the main source of heat in the process. ( C + O2 = CO2) At bottom where high temperature is, carbon will react with carbon dioxide to form carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is the main source of reducing agent. ( C + CO2 = 2CO) The carbon monoxide will react with iron ore, haematite to form iron and carbon monoxide. ( Fe2O3 + 3CO = Fe2 + 3CO2) In hotter part of the furnace, carbon itself can be a reducing agent but the product is carbon monoxide instead of carbon dioxide. (Fe2O3 + 3C = Fe2 + 3CO) The iron that results from the process is molten due to the high temperature at the bottom of the furnace. They will tapped off from the furnace at the bottom. Iron ore does contain impurities. The limestone that are added together with iron ore and coke is used to eliminate the impurities because they... ...gulation should be done regularly by the officers. Any factory that does not follow the regulation should be given a notice to shut down its operation within 24 hours until the solution to the pollution problem have been taken. The factory should be sued due to their mistake. This will educate other factory to take care the environment. By doing so, we could minimize the water pollution and save aquatic life. Clean water source also will be guaranteed safe if there is not pollution. Those are three action that the government should take in order to prevent more pollution caused by the iron industry. There are more suggestion that government can take, but it does not change anything if government itself does not take any action. Our government should take action now so that future generation does not blame us due to the pollution that they may encounter in future.

Othello †Race and Stereotypes

Othello’s race does not prominently impact his demise, although Shakespeare touches upon the issue of race, the reason for Othello’s demise lies somewhere else. However, the allegations of race directly lead to its tragic ending. Feelings of inadequacy and distrust without question aid in the tragedy. The fact that Othello’s skin color is important alters the interpretation of the tragedy within the play. The racism represented in Othello is not just about an instance of prejudices and prejudgments made by a crowd of people against another, but in fact has much more subtle and devastating consequences, specifically, that it is proliferated not only by the discriminatory section of society, but also by the target of this discrimination. Although Othello didn’t initially validate any of the stereotypical qualities that certain people labeled him with, he began adapting to them as he started to doubt himself. By coming to the assumption that he is in a racially inferior position, Othello struggled in dealing with the stereotypes appropriately, thereby only increasing his own struggle with his race. If Othello didn’t have such inferior complex and instead had faith within him, the conflict would never have ascended. Rather than tagging the play Othello as anti-racist or a discriminatory play, there is a substantial lesson that can be learned. From a racial perspective, the tragedy exposes the powerful outcomes that racial differences can generate when in conjunction with one’s personal self-doubt. With Iago’s manipulations the notions of race were provoked for Brabantio, Rodrigo, and Othello, activating any suppressed racial prejudices and self-doubt. It seems obvious that Iago has strong feelings of personal inadequacy and is jealous and resentful of the love shared between Othello and Desdemona. However, Iago’s motive seems to be more than that. I thought his hatred was from his own personal dissatisfaction, but when he becomes lieutenant he is still unhappy and goes for the total destruction of Othello’s life. So, I tried to see what it would be like to put my feet in Iago’s shoes, to feel his hatred and of course connect what the play is about. It then hit me that through Iago’s judgments Othello is â€Å"the Moor† and should therefore exemplify the common idea of a moor, which is not admiration, self-worth, and fortune; it is one of disconnectedness and dependency. When he says that â€Å"nothing can or shall content his soul/ Till he is evened with the Moor, wife for wife† (Act 2: Scene), he means that he is satisfied until Othello’s ife is made equal with his involving feelings of inadequacy and jealousy, which are all qualities fitting to a â€Å"moor†. Throughout the play Iago repetitively uses derogatory remarks when speaking of Othello so to encourage certain people in the play to endure racism and confirm that it was the norm. Even so, some of Iago’s semantics reveal his own prejudices. For example, Iago only refers to Othello as a â€Å"Moor† with the exception of when he refers to Othello as the â€Å"black Othello† (Act 2: Scene 3). Iago hates Othello because he is â€Å"the Moor† yet does not symbolize the expected role of what is thought of to be a black man in these times. There is neither reason nor logic behind his hatred, but discrimination against one seldom has reason, for it is characteristically irrational thinking. Iago is a clear illustration of what racism is and will justify his irrational thoughts with anything, just as Iago contributes to Brabantio and Rodrigo’s reasoning behind their actions and Othello’s reasons for acting out on his uncertainties and self-doubt ultimately leading to his demise and an all-around tragedy.

While taking the Conflict Styles Assessment, I found that my highest score was in compromise, collaboration, and accommodation, making these types my main styles. My score was low in avoidance and competition, both of these styles I considered my secondary. I took the test and my scores on all of the five conflict style. Avoidance: 12, Competition: 14, Compromise: 25, Accommodation: 14, and Collaboration: 25. While contrasting my results with my initial conflict management style. Avoidance, my avoidance was fairly low for myself but the quiz ranked my avoidance slightly higher. â€Å"Avoidance happens when we let denial, joking, and procrastination rule conflict†. (Wilmot Hocker, 2011, p. 151) Competition, shockingly for me, ranked highest in a personal setting. My own ranking was lower then what I ranked. â€Å"When conflicts are seen as fights to be won, and tempestuous selfish behavior is employed, it is a good bet that competition is at hand† (Wilmot Hocker, 2011, p. 157) Compromise, my compromise is lowest in the results. I ranked myself a few points higher then the results. â€Å"Both parties engaged in conflict that equally gain and lose for the greater good are engaging in compromise† (Wilmot Hocker, 2011, p. 163). Accommodation, my accommodation score was the most very similar and I ranked almost the same result. â€Å"The key element for accommodation is setting personal and individual needs aside for another, and putting more selfish desires on the backburner†. ANALYSIS The results of my conflict assessment style test were not completely unexpected to me; besides, I knew I would score high in accommodation, collaboration, and compromise. Though my avoidance and competition scores happened to be relatively low, it was a surprise for me that my avoidance was higher. Avoidance in my everyday life is when I am dealing with a conflict with my romantic partner. I will try to distract the attention to another topic to avoid any conflict. Competition, my competition score was not great, I ranked myself highest in competition, but I think the fact that being the last child my upbringing makes me focus on my â€Å"own co ncepts, beliefs, and purposes† and view conflict such as â€Å"equal to competition† (Tang Wang, 2006, par) Compromise, I do try to compromise regularly in my life, but somehow I have difficulty when it comes to compromising now as I have grown up it could be because I had to compromise so much in life. OPINION I do believe that my solid styles are collaboration, and compromise, and accommodation, avoidance and competition are not that strong, however, I would say that did not score very high on my conflict styles, I think I use them more than I should. My conflicts could be better resolved if I found a way to have more balance amongst my conflict styles, and also by simply being more genuinely myself. CONCLUSION During this assessment, I realized that although I have always admired myself when it comes to handling conflict, but I have some of the areas that I still need to work on, like avoidance or accommodation.
